Community Groups Honored by Times

Two Ventura County organizations were named winners of the Los Angeles Times Valley and Ventura County editions’ 1993 Community Partnership Awards on Wednesday.

Catholic Charities, a support group for frail seniors 60 and older, and Camarillo Hospice Inc., an assistance program for terminally ill patients and their families, were among 10 organizations each receiving $5,000 grants.

Other winners were Children of the Night of Van Nuys; the Encino Lodge of B’nai B’rith; the Foothill Area Community Relations Unit of the Los Angeles Police Department located in Pacoima; the Santa Clarita Child and Family Development Center of Canyon Country; the Sepulveda United Methodist Church; Teen Age Grief Inc. of Panorama City; the Alisa Ann Ruch California Burn Foundation of Canoga Park, and the Foundation for Quality Housing Opportunities Inc. of North Hollywood.

The Community Partnership Awards were established in 1990 by The Times to recognize local nonprofit organizations for outstanding service to the community. This year’s recipients were selected by an 11-member panel of community and business leaders.
