Latin Fare, With Accent on Chinese

Share

A mixture of Mexican, American, South American and Chinese--that’s how Gallo’s defines its California cuisine. The restaurant recently opened its doors in Anaheim, and held a grand opening yesterday.

The mix of cuisines is broad. Appetizers, which run from $1.50 to $7.50, include empanadas, buffalo wings, nachos and fish cocktail. Main dishes, priced between $6.50 and $10.75, include T-bone steak; Peruvian-style fried red snapper, which is deep-fried, sauteed in a wok with onion salsa, and served with shrimp, squid and mussels; and a goat stew of goat meat, Spanish rice and yucca.

The owner is Gallo Gomez, who said he has worked as a manager and pastry chef for several area restaurants.
