John Harkes not only became the first American to play in an English Football Assn. Cup final, he set up the tying goal at Wembley, England.
Harkes, a 26-year-old midfielder from Kearny, N.J., found teammate David Hirst with a well-placed header during the 61st minute as Sheffield Wednesday tied Arsenal, 1-1, in England’s equivalent of the Super Bowl.
The teams will replay the match Thursday night.
