Tarbut V’Torah Community Day School will be holding orientation meetings this week and an open house for parents considering enrolling their children in the school.

The meetings will be held today, Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday at its board of directors’ homes in Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, Tustin and Villa Park. Parents whose children currently attend Tarbut V’Torah will be present to talk about the school program, along with the school director and members of the school board.

The kindergarten-through-eighth-grade private school devotes half the school day to Judaic studies, including Hebrew language classes, and the other half to secular studies.

In addition to the meetings, the school is inviting the public to tour its classrooms as a science fair takes place May 24 at 7:30 p.m. Teachers will be present to answer questions about the school.

Tuition, books, transportation and day-care service cost about $5,000 a year for each student. “But no child is ever turned away,” said Elise Odenheimer, spokeswoman for the school. Full and partial scholarships are offered to children whose parents cannot afford it, she said.
