USC reached the finals of the NCAA men’s tennis championship for the second time in three years with a 5-0 victory over Texas, and Georgia swept the three doubles matches to upset UCLA, 5-4, in semifinal matches Monday at Athens, Ga.

In posting their second consecutive shutout, the top-seeded Trojans did not lose a set in the five completed matches against the Longhorns, getting victories from Brian MacPhie, Wayne Black, Jon Leach, Andras Lanyi and Adam Peterson.

“They’re so confident, they feel like they’re not going to lose to anybody,” said Trey Phillips, Texas’ No. 2 singles player. “Someone, somewhere down the line has instilled confidence. Every one of their guys could play at the top of the lineup.”
