Firefighters extinguished a brush fire in Burbank on Wednesday that left about 10 acres burned, but no structures were damaged and no one was injured, authorities said.

The fire, reported about 3 p.m., ripped through dry brush on steep slopes near Rudell Road and Via Montana, Burbank Fire Department Inspector Greg Ward said.

Firefighters put out the blaze about an hour later.

About three-dozen firefighters from the Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena fire departments fought the fire, Burbank officials said. Three Los Angeles City Fire Department helicopters also helped.

Although the cause is under investigation, officials said gardeners using weed-cutting machines nearby may have accidentally started the blaze.
