A total of 244 students are eligible to graduate this year--nine more than last year, said George McCrory, spokesman for the college.

The graduating class is diverse: It includes many working professionals and older students as well as people coming out of high school, McCrory said.

“We have a lot of people who work. They’ve gone to school for a couple of years and are now graduating,” he said.

Music for the commencement will be performed by the Irvine Valley College Symphonic Wind Ensemble and by the the school’s chorale. A reception will follow the ceremony.
