Arcadia : Lost Animal Contract

Share

Stray dogs, cats and other lost animals in the city will now be the responsibility of the Pasadena Humane Society.

City Council members Tuesday voted unanimously to transfer the contract for animal control services in the city from Los Angeles County Animal Care to the private, nonprofit Pasadena organization.

City Manager Donald R. Duckworth said he recommended a one-year, $48,000 contract with the society because, in addition to being cheaper, it has a “more caring” philosophy and is closer than the county facility in Baldwin Park.

The society headquarters at 361 S. Raymond Ave. in Pasadena is in the midst of a $4.3-million expansion. It provides animal control services to Pasadena, San Marino, Sierra Madre and South Pasadena.
