LOS ANGELES COUNTY : Extradition of Boy, 16, in Fatal Carjacking Sought
The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office began paperwork Monday to extradite a 16-year-old boy suspected in the shooting death of a Monterey Park woman, police said.
Authorities hope to bring the boy to Los Angeles to face charges for allegedly killing Kathy May Lee, 27, during an apparently botched carjacking.
The boy is in the custody of the Dormont Police Department in Pennsylvania. He was arrested May 18 in connection with a holdup in the Pittsburgh suburb, said Dormont Police Chief Russell McKibben.
Police in Dormont were able to identify the youth through an investigation that started when he used an alias and indicated he was 19.
Lee was shot to death in her car April 5 in the parking lot of a Alhambra fabric store. She had gone there to purchase material for a wedding dress, authorities said.
