Countywide : Store Collecting Used Puzzles for Elderly

Share

As part of a national effort to benefit the elderly, a game store has begun collecting used puzzles, which will be donated to nursing homes and adult day-care centers.

The Game Keeper, a 30-outlet chain based in Goleta, is sponsoring the “Pieces of Caring” drive nationally. Company officials said they hope to collect 6 million puzzle pieces during the campaign, which ends on June 30.

Eric Joy, manager of the Game Keeper in Santa Ana, said on Tuesday that the store will reward county donors with coupons good for discounts there as well as free puzzles. The group or individual that donates the most pieces will receive a basket of puzzles worth $50.

He said the annual program offers a great opportunity to aid the elderly: “We’re just trying to help out and put a little enjoyment into these people’s lives.”

Donors may drop off their new or used puzzles, which must be complete, at the store, at MainPlace/Santa Ana at 2800 N. Main St.
