SLAYING SHOCK: For many Latinos in Ventura County, the slaying of a Roman Catholic cardinal in Guadalajara (A4) was a bitter loss. “Our people have been very deeply shocked,” said Father Richard Loomis of St. Anthony’s Church in Oxnard. . . . Some churches plan special masses and prayers. Many local Latinos hail from Jalisco state, where the slaying occurred, Msgr. Patrick O’Brien at the San Buenaventura Mission said.
