Clinton Administration’s Travelgate

Wow! What power! Harry Thomason didn’t like the answers his partner received from the White House travel department so he had seven career government workers fired (May 25). I’m impressed.

As a registered Democrat who backed Bill Clinton all the way, I thought the Republicans had a lock on the self-absorbed--”who do you think you are talking to”--”let them eat cake” mentality.

Was I wrong!

* Why should the White House be providing transportation for the press in the first place (even if they do pay for it)? Could the media not form a press pool and make their own arrangements?

* I seem to recall that Mrs. Clinton receives zero salary for heading up the Task Force on Health Care Reform. Could we possibly write off President Clinton’s haircut against that and move on to responsible journalism?

Let the National Inquirer handle such “issues.”
