Coverdale/Page is finalizing details for a tour of arenas beginning in October, with David Coverdale and Jimmy Page said to be close to finalizing a lineup for their band. And yes, in addition to material from their current album, they’ll be playing the music fans really want to hear--old Zeppelin and Whitesnake tunes. . . . Tentative plans for a new Paula Abdul album this year have been put on hold. Meanwhile, she’s considering possible film projects and a home video was just released to keep her name in the marketplace. . . .

Guns N’ Roses’ pair of one-hour videos about behind-the-scenes action at video shoots are finally coming June 22. . . . UB40’s chart-climbing single, “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” a featured single in the steamy thriller “Sliver,” will also be the featured single on their next album, due in late July. . . . Remember that “Simpsons” album that was originally coming out late last year? It’s still being worked on and there’s still not even a tentative release date. Those temperamental cartoon characters! . . . A Shonen Knife album of completely new material is due this fall. The Japanese pop-punk trio’s recent Virgin Records debut included tracks from earlier, independent albums. . . .

Dancehall reggae star Buju Banton’s album has been pushed back to July 20, with insiders speculating that the month delay is designed to let the negative publicity from his allegedly anti-gay lyrics die down. PolyGram officials insist it’s just a routine delay. . . . John Mellencamp’s new album is now due Aug. 20. . . . Nelson has regrouped after the murder of drummer Bobby Rock’s pregnant fiancee at an ATM in the Valley last March and has resumed work on a second album, now due Sept. 14. . . .

A lineup is being put together for a memorial jam in honor of L.A. rocker Craig Jason, who died in a London auto accident recently. The concert will be at the Palace on Tuesday and will benefit the Bobby Brooks Foundation. Jason played bass on Iggy Pop’s last tour and had recently joined the English group Thee Hypnotics, which was said to be about to sign to Def American.

Soulstress Oleta Adams’ second album, “Evolution,” produced by Stewart Levine and due Aug. 3, includes a version of James Taylor’s “Don’t Let Me Be Lonely Tonight” with David Sanborn on sax.
