A fund-raiser to help the family of a Canyon High School student critically injured in an automobile crash near the campus will be held at Rudy’s Pizza on Wednesday.

Rudy Lucidi, an English teacher at the school and the owner of the pizza parlor, will donate 25% of all proceeds taken in from 3 to 10 p.m. to the family of Jose Duarte, a 17-year-old high school senior who has been in a coma since the crash near the campus May 27.

Duarte suffered a fractured skull, brain hemorrhages, a punctured lung, broken shoulder, broken leg and kidney injuries and remains in critical condition in the intensive care unit of Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, said his father, Pablo Duarte.

“My son has not gotten any better or any worse,” said Pablo Duarte on Saturday from the hospital. “It is a very tough time for our family.”

Rudy’s Pizza is in the Von’s shopping center at 5572 E. Santa Ana Canyon Road, Anaheim. For more information on the fund-raiser, call (714) 998-2000.
