SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

To better inform businesses and residents about construction along the Santa Ana Freeway, the California Department of Transportation will host a series of open houses beginning Thursday.

Caltrans spokeswoman Rose Orem said the meetings will allow people to ask staff questions about the project and give officials a forum to explain graffiti removal strategy.

The five-year, $600-million freeway widening project between the Garden Grove and Orange freeways interchange and Beach Boulevard will be done in five segments. At the meetings, displays, maps and videos will highlight each specific work area. Project funding comes from the Measure M half-cent sales tax.
