A man suspected of fatally shooting two men and seriously wounding another and a 4-year-old boy during a birthday party in Hawthorne was arrested Sunday by police in Oceanside, Los Angeles County sheriff’s detectives said.
Carlton Payne, 23, of Inglewood was being held for investigation of murder after being captured near his girlfriend’s home, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Stanley White.
White said that Marwinn Cook, 24, and Richard Bolin, 24, both of Inglewood, were shot and killed about 11 p.m. Saturday during a party at an apartment in the 14500 block of Cerise Avenue.
Authorities said the shooting was believed to be gang-related. Neither of the seriously wounded victims were identified. Three men at the party suffered minor injuries when they jumped from a second-floor balcony to avoid the gunfire, investigators said.
