The Mighty Ducks are planning to interview Mike Murphy, former coach of the Kings; Lorne Henning, former coach of the Minnesota North Stars, and Marc Crawford, a minor league coach, to become the expansion team’s first coach.

Jack Ferreira, general manager of the Ducks, has received permission from Toronto General Manager Cliff Fletcher to interview Murphy, an assistant coach with the Maple Leafs, and Crawford, coach of the St. John’s Maple Leafs, Toronto’s American Hockey League affiliate.

Don Maloney, general manager of the New York Islanders, said he had cleared Ferreira’s interview with Henning, an Islander assistant coach.

Murphy coached the Kings for parts of two seasons, compiling a record of 20-37-8 before he was fired two months into the 1987-88 season. Henning, an assistant to Islander Coach Al Arbour much of his career, coached the North Stars from 1985-87 and had a 68-72-18 record.

Al Sims, a former King defenseman and coach of the International Hockey League Ft. Wayne Komets, has been interviewed. Rick Dudley, coach of the San Diego Gulls, is expected to be interviewed, and the Ducks might also speak with the King assistant Cap Raeder.
