An artist’s sketch of a police killer televised on “America’s Most Wanted” Friday night resulted in dozens of calls and “some information that we believe will lead us somewhere,” in finding the the man who killed Officer Howard E. Dallies Jr., a key investigator said Saturday.

Detective Ron Shave of the special task force hunting for the unidentified gunman said the TV show generated 50 leads, mostly from Southern California viewers.

“That’s the most we’ve had for a two-day period” in this case, Shave said.

Police said the acne-scarred man wearing a baseball cap in the computer-enhanced sketch fatally shot Dallies on March 9 and severely wounded Santa Ana security guard Rene Carpio in January.
