For dedicated gardeners, here are suggestions from the California Assn. of Nurserymen on what to do in the garden this week: * If there are dead patches in your lawn, chances are it’s the work of lawn moth larvae. Check with your local nursery for the best control in your area. * Use wire cylinders to keep tomato plants off the ground, prevent rot, improve fruit set and ease harvest. They are also good for controlling unruly cucumbers and squash plants. * Harvest beets, pole beans, cucumbers, carrots and squash when they are young. They’re tasty and can be attractively prepared.
