LA HABRA : Schools Honor 7 Retiring Employees

Share

Seven retiring La Habra City School District employees were honored by school board members last week with trophies in the form of old-fashioned, hand-held school bells.

The seven are Las Positas Elementary School teachers Helen Goff, Loreen Larner and Marianne Getz, Washington Middle School teachers Joyce Bullis and Doris Lindberg, Ladera Palma Elementary School teacher Pat Simmons and district office secretary Renata Breitenstein. They have worked for the district from 18 to 26 years.

School trustees praised the women for their work and dedication to the district.

“I think they are wonderful,” said Board of Education member Nancy S. Zinberg. “They really are the cream of the crop, super dedicated and enthusiastic, with vested interest in their students. And they changed with the times, these innovating, modern and demanding people.”

All the retirees said they plan to spend time traveling, and Getz and Larner plan to keep teaching as volunteers or substitutes.
