A former high school coach told players that a botched vasectomy ruined his sex life so he coerced teen-agers to have sex with his wife to salvage his marriage and help the team, court documents say.

Former Hemet High School football coach Randy Brown offered one youth a college scholarship to have sex with his wife, according to a search warrant affidavit unsealed Monday.

The youth told investigators that after being plied with alcohol and marijuana supplied by Brown, he had sex with Kelly Brown, 32, more than 1,000 times.

Brown, 39, and his wife pleaded guilty May 28 to felony sexual misconduct charges involving two former players, whose names were withheld. Under a plea bargain, Brown gave up his teaching credential, the couple were given five years probation and they were ordered to register as sex offenders.

Riverside County Sheriff’s Department investigators interviewed two football players, one of whom said he resisted Brown’s repeated requests for him to have sex with Mrs. Brown, according to the 10-page affidavit.
