Death of Man and 2 Children in House Fire Called a Murder-Suicide
A fire that killed one adult and two young children Thursday was an apparent murder-suicide, police said.
The dead are believed to be a man and his two children, ages 4 months and 2 years, San Francisco radio station KCBS reported.
Police Lt. Jim Long told the station that a woman and her two children lived in the house in the city’s Ingleside district and that the woman had a restraining order against the children’s father.
The man came over and asked the woman to go to the store, Long said. When she came back, the house was in flames.
The woman’s sister, who lives nearby, saw the flames and tried to get in the house but was stopped by bars on the windows, police said.
The fire was reported at 4:50 p.m. and spread to two houses before it was brought under control about 25 minutes later.
Investigators were still at the scene Thursday evening.
