Man Dead in ‘Love Triangle’ Shooting

A shooting allegedly stemming from a love triangle left one man dead and another in jail on suspicion of murder, police said Monday.

Charles McKeen, 40, was shot in front of his home in the 11800 block of Eldridge Avenue about 11 p.m. Sunday, police said. McKeen was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detective Marshall White of the Los Angeles Police Department said Anthony Eldridge, 37, of Reseda later turned himself in at the West Valley Division station and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder.

“The dispute was over a lover’s triangle. . . . I think it was over a common girlfriend,” White said.

McKeen’s death marked the fourth fatal shooting in the northeast San Fernando Valley over the weekend, police said.

Fidel Argueta, 18, of Arleta, was identified as the youth fatally shot early Sunday morning outside another house in Lake View Terrace. On Saturday, Mario Croker died from a bullet that struck him as he sat with friends at a Mission Hills intersection late Friday night.

Shortly after midnight Saturday, Abel Hernandez, 15, of Sun Valley, was fatally shot in the chest during a dispute with several others at a graduation party attended by more than 100 people, police said.

Police believe the shootings involving Argueta, Croker and Hernandez were gang-related. No suspects had been arrested in connection with the three shootings Monday.
