Two structures were damaged and about 15 acres of light brush were consumed in a residential area of Lancaster on Monday afternoon, county fire officials said.

The blaze was one of three brush fires in the Los Angeles area. The others, in Diamond Bar and Glassell Park in northeast Los Angeles, caused no property damage.

The roof of a residence in the 1200 block of West Avenue J-8 and an adjacent garage roof were damaged in the Lancaster blaze, which began shortly after 4 p.m. and was the result of a suspected arson, said Inspector Devin Trone, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Five fire stations, aided by two helicopter units, battled the fire for more than an hour, Trone said.
