SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Literary toilers in this community reach out to each other through groups like Pen Women, Simi Valley Poets, Ventura County Writers, Society of Children’s Book Writers and Gold Coast Fiction Writers. They sponsor seminars and workshops where authors, editors and agents share their expertise and experience in an attempt to help aspiring writers learn their craft and find their way through the publishing maze. To begin or continue publishing pursuits, consider attending Rosanne Falcone’s Scene and Sequel workshop from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at New America Savings Bank in Camarillo. Sponsored by Gold Coast Fiction Writers, the seminar will focus on story and character based on Dwight Swain’s book “Techniques of the Selling Writer.” Reservations are necessary.
