Two local teen-agers have been elected to serve on the Far West regional cabinet of United Synagogue Youth, a worldwide youth group for Conservative Judaism.

Sepit Farivar, 17, a senior at Corona del Mar High School, was elected president by the region, which extends from Utah to Hawaii and includes portions of New Mexico, Nevada, California and Arizona.

Farivar said she chose to run after visiting Nazi concentration camps in Poland last year as well as a trip to Israel.

David Ross, 16, a junior at Troy High in Fullerton, was elected vice president for programming.

A runoff vote was necessary in both Farivar’s and Ross’ races because not one of the three candidates running got a majority. The two will preside in their respective offices until Memorial Day, 1994.
