Summer Breaks Are a Bit Longer: Corporate Japan will give an average of 6.3 days off this summer. Newspapers quoted a private survey showing that the average summer break at 223 Japanese companies would be 0.1 day longer than last year’s. The Industrial Labor Research Institute said 86% of firms polled planned summer breaks. It said breaks would average 7.3 days at firms with more than 1,000 employees and 5.3 days at those with fewer than 300.
