PerfectData’s Profit Drops Despite Higher Revenues

PerfectData Corp., a Simi Valley marketer of computer, office-care and maintenance products and accessories, reported a decline in profit for its fiscal fourth quarter and year ended March 31, despite higher revenues.

In the latest three months, PerfectData earned $172,000, down 17% from $206,000 a year earlier. Its revenue rose 8%, to $2.4 million, from $2.2 million.

The company’s full-year profit fell 23% to $514,000 from $669,000 in the previous 12 months. Revenue increased 4%, to $8.1 million from $7.8 million.

PerfectData also said it had acquired the assets of SubSytems Co., a Danville-based distributor of computer accessories. Terms were not disclosed.

In addition, PerfectData said it had developed a replacement for a product containing a chemical that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has banned the use of beginning next year. The future impact on its financial condition of the new product’s higher costs are not known, PerfectData said.
