LYON, France — A French court ordered franchised McDonald’s in the Lyon region to allow a trade union to set up a works council and elect union representatives.
The court ruled that the 13 franchise holders, who employ about 800 people, constitute an economic entity with a single management and interchangeable staff.
The franchise holders’ lawyers said they will appeal the ruling, but will allow the creation of the works council and the election of union delegates pending that action.
