Salsa Defeats Ft. Lauderdale in Sudden Death

Paulinho scored on a header in sudden death to give the Salsa a 3-2 victory over Ft. Lauderdale in an American Professional Soccer League match Friday in Ft. Lauderdale.
Los Angeles (6-2) led, 2-0, but the Strikers scored twice in the second half to force overtime.
Paulinho’s game-winning goal, his second in two weeks, came on an assist from Jose Vasquez.
The Salsa opened a 1-0 lead six minutes into the first half when Paul Wright scored from a few yards in front of the net off a pass from Phillip Gyau.
Gyau dribbled past two defenders and kicked the ball into the corner of the net to put Los Angeles ahead, 2-0, nine minutes into the second half. Mike Fox got the assist.
Ft. Lauderdale (2-8) tied it, 2-2, on a goal from Marcello Carrera with about 16 minutes left in regulation. Patrick Tardieu had scored the Strikers’ first goal, seven minutes before.
