Alpharel, Optigraphics Involved in Merger Talks

Alpharel Inc., a Camarillo producer of document imaging systems, said it is involved in merger talks with Optigraphics Corp., a San Diego imaging systems firm.

A definitive agreement has not been reached, but the merger would involve the payment of an undisclosed amount in cash, common stock and notes to Optigraphics, Alpharel said.

Alpharel, whose 1992 revenues totaled $6.2 million, said sales of the privately held San Diego concern are about 25% larger than Alpharel’s.

The two companies produce systems for storing high volumes of documents and information for business and government.
