Pepsi Incident

* While the recent Pepsi hypodermic needle scare was a sad testimonial to human nature, something beneficial may have emerged from it. For several years, we as a society, and the press and law enforcement in particular, have considered it unfashionable to question the veracity of anyone who claims to be a “victim.” This trend can have disastrous effects on the reputation and financial prospects of any person or organization falsely accused. If the Pepsi incident forces us to realize that not every manipulative liar who claims to be a victim truly is, then all of our civil rights and reputations will be more secure.
