NEWBURY PARK : Reward Offered in School Arson Try

Share

The Ventura County Crime Stoppers program is offering a reward in connection with two Molotov cocktails thrown at Newbury Park High School two weeks ago.

The devices were tossed at the school’s administration building between 2 and 3:15 p.m. on June 19, a Saturday. The bottles contained flammable liquid and had lighted wicks, sheriff’s deputies said.

Neither of the devices exploded, but one shattered a window and sprayed flammable liquid in the reception area.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Kitty Hoberg said detectives have no leads and no motive in the case, but are hoping someone will come forward with a description of a suspect or car used.

Anyone with information about the case is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 494-TALK. Callers may remain anonymous. A reward of up to $1,000 will be paid if the tip leads to an arrest and the filing of a criminal complaint.
