The Lancaster City Council approved a $1 increase in residential trash-collection rates within the city. The monthly price charged by the city’s two major haulers will increase from $13.50 to $14.50 per household, the first increase in two years.
Council members approved the increase by a 4-1 vote, with Councilman George Root dissenting. The increase will be charged by Waste Management of Lancaster, which serves city areas north of Avenue L, and Antelope Valley Rubbish, which handles service south of Avenue L.
