WAR OF WORDS: Jack is back ....

WAR OF WORDS: Jack is back . . . and Ice-T’s ready to tangle. Anti-obscenity crusader Jack Thompson plans to square off against the controversial rapper in a series of debates set to take place in the coming months on various college campuses.

Thompson vigorously campaigned to declare Ice-T’s “Cop Killer” song in violation of anti-sedition laws last year and was a prime mover in 2 Live Crew’s 1990 legal tussles. He’s not new to rock ‘n’ roll debates, having verbally battled former Public Enemy associate Professor Griff, Spin magazine publisher Bob Guccione Jr., and underground rocker-poets Henry Rollins and Lydia Lunch in the past.

No firm dates have been set because of Ice-T’s busy schedule, which includes a fall film shoot and a book release. But Thompson and his agent said Ice-T and his camp have agreed to “at least” five dates during the next school year. A spokesman from Ice-T’s management was not available for comment.
