The Fullerton Museum Center will present a concert--being organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles--as part of an ambitious, multisite tribute to experimental composer John Cage this fall.

On Sept. 18, pianist Alison Edwards of Fullerton and flutists Aimee Grodsky of Anaheim and Helene Wayne of Fullerton will play selections by Cage and composers he influenced. The concert will be part of “Citycircus,” a series of events at arts and educational organizations throughout Southern California in conjunction with “Rolywholyover A Circus,”, an exhibition at MOCA.

John Cage concert--A concert of works by and reflecting the influence of John Cage, to take place at the Fullerton Museum Center in September, is being organized by the center itself, and will be part of a multi-site tribute to Cage that is being organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. Because of an editing error, the wrong organization was credited for the concert in Wednesday’s Calendar.

So far, the Fullerton center is the only venue in Orange County taking part in the tribute to Cage, who died last year. The center was chosen by Cage--at random, by the same sort of selection process he used to create his musical works--from a list of organizations that had submitted proposals to MOCA.

Cage is “an important artist, and we wanted to bring his work to the Orange County area,” said Fullerton center curator Lynn La Bate.

Edwards, a chamber musician and soloist who has played Cage works before, has appeared with the Marina del Rey Symphony and teaches piano at Rancho Santiago College in Santa Ana. Grodsky is the Fullerton center’s education coordinator. Wayne is a free-lance flutist.

More “Citycircus” venues will be announced.

“Rolywholyover” will run at MOCA from Sept. 12 through Nov. 28. The exhibit will include a small art work by Naida Osline, cultural services supervisor for the City of Huntington Beach, lent to MOCA by the Fullerton center at MOCA’s invitation.
