Struggle Over Gun Leaves Stepson Dead
A struggle over a loaded gun between a man and his stepson left the stepson dead and the stepfather with multiple gunshot wounds Thursday, authorities said.
The incident occurred about 6 p.m. in a second-floor apartment at 7254 Vassar Ave. in Canoga Park, Los Angeles Police Sgt. Al Sorkness said.
The men were not identified.
The younger man’s mother was in the apartment next door when the shooting occurred, Sorkness said.
The younger man was rushed to the trauma center at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, but died of a bullet wound to the chest, Sorkness said. The father was in serious but stable condition at West Valley Hospital.
