Mercedes Recalls 128,000 300-Class Cars: The auto maker said it is recalling the 1987-92 cars to replace a connector for the throttle cable. The recall covers cars equipped with five- and six- cylinder engines. If the connector malfunctions, the engine will return to idle speed and the car will not accelerate. No accidents or injuries related to the problem have been reported, Mercedes-Benz of North America said. Mercedes dealers will install improved connectors at no charge. Separately, Mercedes said it incorrectly installed non-U.S.-version driver-side air bags in about 400 of its 1993 model vehicles sold in the United States, including some S-class, 300-class and 190-class cars. Dealers will install the correct bags, it said.
