Man Arrested in Fatal Crash
A 33-year-old Santa Ana man was arrested Monday after his car crashed into the rear of a station wagon at a Pico Rivera intersection, sparking a fire that burned two women to death, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said.
Casimiro Torres was driving east on Slauson Avenue “at a high rate of speed” just after noon when his car slammed into the station wagon, which was stopped at a red light at Crossway Drive, said Sgt. Tom Gregory.
The station wagon was pushed into the intersection and spun as it burst into flames, deputies said.
