N.Y. Times Plans Spanish-Language Weekly in California: New York Times Co. said it plans to launch the newspaper in September and that it will be aimed at serving residents of Santa Barbara and Ventura counties. The paper, called El Nuevo Tiempo, will be the company’s first Spanish-language newspaper and its 32nd independent regional newspaper. It will be available free in retail stores and in vending machines, with 25,000 copies circulated in areas of Santa Barbara, Oxnard and Santa Maria.
