Los Angeles County supervisors must make $600 million in cuts to balance the county’s $13.1-billion budget. Supervisors have scheduled a series of hearings and deliberations to help them determine what services to cut. AT ISSUE

KEY DEVELOPMENTS
* Dist. Atty. Gil Garcetti, seeking full funding for his department, was rebuffed by supervisors, who said his orchestrated public relations campaign was overkill.
* Supervisor Deane Dana proposed making each department responsible for its own utility bills, under orders to cut usage by 5%.
* Supervisor Mike Antonovich recommended splitting the duties of the Coroner’s Department between the departments of Health, Public Administrator and Sheriff.
TODAY’S TESTIMONY
The Board of Supervisors will accept written testimony until 5 p.m. today , but has not scheduled any more public testimony.
