Beating, Drug, Alcohol Cited in Motorist’s Death

DETROIT — Blows to the head combined with cocaine and alcohol caused the death of a motorist allegedly beaten to death by police, a pathologist testified Thursday.
Oakland County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Ljubisa Dragovic said blows to the head could not have been the sole cause of death for Malice Green, even though an autopsy said that was the reason.
Dragovic, a defense witness, said his review of autopsy materials showed no swelling of Green’s brain--a finding he said would be essential to show Green died from blunt force trauma.
Plainclothes policemen Larry Nevers and Walter Budzyn are charged with second-degree murder in the Nov. 5 death of Green.
