Santa Monica : Shuttle to Start Aug. 6

Share

Getting around downtown is about to become easier in Santa Monica.

Three hotels have joined with the city to launch a shuttle, called the Tide, that will take hotel guests, tourists and residents to shopping, amusement and beach locations.

The launch date for the 27-passenger van is Aug. 6. It will operate from noon to 10 p.m. seven days a week through October, city officials said.

The cost of a ride will be 50 cents.

The Guest Quarters Suite Hotel, the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel and the Holiday Inn Bay View Plaza Hotel are underwriting the cost of the shuttle.

The agreement between the hotels and the city calls for a two-year trial period. A survey has already shown that 78% of Santa Monica residents and 85% of hotel guests said they would use the shuttle service.
