Angels Flight

I have lived in Southern California for 15 years and perhaps do not fully understand the historical significance of the Angels Flight railway.
I also do not understand how the Los Angeles City Council can approve a $4 million plan to reinstall a rail line that runs “one-block” (photo/article, July 22) while cutting city budgets and wondering how to fund 3,000 additional policemen.
This rail line restoration may be worthwhile at some later date--but certainly not at the expense of all the other priorities that will make our city run on time.
