One man was killed and another wounded early Saturday at the Newport Beach Pier during an argument between gang members from Ontario and Santa Ana, some of whom were in a rented, 40-foot limousine equipped with a hot tub, police said.

Enrique Morales, 18, of Ontario was arrested on suspicion of murder as he tried to leave the parking lot adjacent to the pier in a pickup truck carrying four others from his Ontario-based gang, said police Sgt. Andy Gonis. Several firearms were seized, but police declined to describe them.

The Santa Ana man who was killed was not identified pending notification of relatives, Gonis said.

The wounded man, Jose Ceja, 23, of Garden Grove was being treated Saturday at a hospital not named for security reasons, Gonis said. He and the slaying victim were among 15 people in the rented limousine.

Shots rang out about 1:30 a.m. in the circular courtyard at the foot of the pier, preceded by a brief encounter, Gonis said.
