Actor’s Battle Against Mansion in Beverly Hills

Share

The sensitivity of Jack Lemmon (Times Q&A;, July 29) and his group, Preserve Beverly Hills, is limited to where their own interests come into play, like when it should happen next door to them. These people live in their own little selfish world. They do not care if anything happens to the rest of Beverly Hills.

I have been a resident of Beverly Hills for 27 years and have never seen Mr. Lemmon or any members of his group at a meeting of the City Council, School Board, Chamber of Commerce or Municipal League. They make it a point to remain totally invisible.

I have never met Robert Manoukian, but I know that he has been living in Beverly Hills for 14 years and has been a very good neighbor. He has all the right to build the mansion of his choice on the three-parcel property he bought. We should consider ourselves fortunate that such a beautiful mansion is being built.

Is it possible that prejudice is involved because Mr. Lemmon and his group don’t want the name Manoukian in their neighborhood?

I think Mr. Lemmon and his organization should stay out of other people’s lives and mind his own business.
