IRVINE : Retailers Raise Funds for Victim’s Family

Share

Merchants at the Crossroads shopping center are joining together for a fund-raiser to benefit the family of an Irvine mother who was killed in an auto accident.

About half of the center’s businesses plan to donate from 5% to 20% of sales on Tuesday 8 to the Alexandra Nichless Trust Fund, which has been set up at the Tustin branch of First Interstate Bank.

Nichless, 35, was killed in a head-on collision in the Irvine area in May. Her daughters, ages 8, 6 and 2, are recovering from injuries suffered in the crash. Nichless is also survived by her husband.

Laura Milbrandt, the Irvine resident who organized the fund-raiser, said it is a chance for the community to express its support and sympathy for the family.

“We want to try to do something for this family,” Milbrandt said. “We hope this is something that can bring the community together. . . . We were all shocked by the loss.”

Organizers hope to raise at least $5,000 during Tuesday’s event.

The Crossroads is at the corner of Barranca Parkway and Culver Drive.
