Angel update--Infielder Kurt Stillwell was signed Sunday to replace Damion Easley, who went on the disabled list because of shin splints. Stillwell played for the Royals in 1988-91 and was an all-star in ’88. Rookie third baseman Eduardo Perez has hit safely in five of his first six games, with two home runs, since his call-up from triple-A Vancouver.

Royal update--George Brett makes his final appearance at Anaheim Stadium, and Gary Gaetti returns for the first time since the Angels released him on June 3. Brett, retiring at the end of this season, is hitting .266 with 13 homers. Gaetti is batting .324 since signing with Kansas City. Former Angel first baseman Wally Joyner is batting .311 with 13 homers and 54 runs batted in. The second-place Royals have won eight of their last 13, but have lost two in a row.
