Volkswagen Board Backs Lopez: Volkswagen’s supervisory board has renewed its support for controversial production manager Jose Ignacio Lopez de Arriortua, after a four-hour crisis meeting. “The work of the management board and especially the work of Mr. Lopez have already brought about a considerable improvement of the profit performance of the company, Volkswagen said in a statement. No GM documents have been found at Volkswagen, a Volkswagen official said. In April, GM’s German subsidiary Adam Opel AG filed criminal charges against Lopez and seven other former GM managers who have joined Volkswagen, accusing them of industrial espionage.
