Man Stabbed Trying to Stop Fight
A 19-year-old Oxnard man was in stable condition Saturday after he was stabbed in the back while trying to break up a fight at a carnival at Oxnard College, authorities said.
Jose Luis Diaz and three friends were attending the carnival Friday night when one of his friends became embroiled in a fight about 9:20 p.m. with 19-year-old Adrian Beltran, police said.
When Diaz tried to intervene, Beltran pulled out a knife and stabbed him three times in the back, police said.
Police arrested Beltran as he left the scene. Diaz was taken by ambulance to St. John’s Regional Medical Center, where authorities said he was treated for a punctured lung.
